Where can I access free mental health support as a young person?

On this page you can find some youth focused mental health resources.

Need help now?  

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E now.   

If you need urgent mental health advice or support now you can call 111 and press 2 for 24/7 mental health support over the phone.  

NHS Help  

You can access NHS support through going to your GP (doctor) or school nurse.

Helpline, Online and Text Services

24/7 – Samaritans call at 116 123 (for free) or email ‘jo@samaritans.org’.  

Papyrus is a UK mental health charity aimed at people under 35, working to prevent suicide. You can call 0800 068 4141, text 07860 039967, or email pat@papyrus-uk.org for confidential advice if you or someone you know is struggling with life. There are also more resources on their website.

The Mix is a free support service for people under 25 in the UK. They offer a helpline at 0808 808 4994, online chat, and email support. (note: this will not show up on a phone bill).

Kooth offers online mental health support via chat.

Shout provides text message support. Anyone can get free mental health support by texting ‘SHOUT’ to 85258.

The Wrap is an online platform for young people, 24 and under. It enables young people to get support at an early stage before more difficult situations develop. It also sets out to empower young people make positive choices and build resilience to overcome life’s challenges.

Bath Mind is a branch of Mind UK that operates in Bath and North East Somerset.

Off the Record, BANES are a mental health and wellbeing charity supporting young people aged 10- 25 across Bath and North East Somerset.

Wiltshire Mind offers face-to-face and online counselling for young people in Wiltshire aged 11-18 and for adults, you can refer yourself here.
